Somalia's 13-year-old inventor Becomes famous

13 year old Guled Adan Abdi from the northern town of Buhodle who taught himself how to make toys by recycling once-thought-useless items, learned to make them electronic, and developed his talent into a passion has gained recognition after BBC Somalia and others came to watch him work. Even the Puntland President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali has invited him to watch him create his toys at the state house and promised that the government will fund his education.

Despite being in primary 3 because of the disappearance of his father in 2002, Guled has found a passion in some of his creations include toy trucks, planes, fans, and light. He connects them to a battery powered control box to make them move. The teenager has also stated that in the future he would like to become a car manufacturer.
